Classical BaZi goes one step past counting. It first reads the strength of your day master — the stem of your day pillar, the character that stands for you. The season of your birth month, the roots hidden inside your branches, and the visible stems standing beside you each lend support or drain it. A weak day master wants feeding — its resource and companion elements; a strong one wants tempering — the elements it controls and flows into. The element this method points to is your favorable element, the yong shen, and it is not always the one you lack. Our calculator shows that working openly: every point of the strength score traces back to a character in your chart.

They're related but not the same. Your zodiac animal comes from your birth year alone, while your five-element chart reads the full BaZi — year, month, day, and hour — so two people with the same animal can have very different element balances.
The feng shui tradition groups natural crystals by element — green stones with Wood, red with Fire, and so on. A bracelet built around your missing element is worn as a daily reminder of the quality you're inviting in. It's a tradition and a design language, not a medical claim.
The favorable element — yong shen (用神) — is the element a classical reading says your chart benefits from most. It comes from judging your day master's strength: a weak day master favors the elements that feed it, a strong one favors the elements that temper it.
